Miss Chris
Chris McHugh Sirard has been making music with babies and toddlers for over 20 years. She holds a Masters degree in Music Education (MME) from the University of South Carolina, specializing in early childhood music development. Her classes are full of movement, singing, and playing. Children are encouraged to move freely around the space while Miss Chris and the caregivers model the music-making. All music responses are supported!
Children learn music like they learn language, with lots of listening and experimenting with sound, followed by reinforcement from their loved ones. OWL Music classes encourage making connections with the beauty of music as well as making connections with loved ones and new friends.
Miss Chris has many fond memories of making music with her two children, now grown and still making music daily. When not singing with babies, Chris is also the Assistant Director of the UMass Minuteman Marching Band at UMass/Amherst.
